Mexico City’s cement prices have fallen in September compared to June 2019, according to a survey conducted by Morgan Stanley Casa de Bolsa. Holcim Mexico recorded a 17 per cent lower price in September compared to three months earlier, followed by Cementos Moctezuma with a decrease of 13 per cent. In 2017 Buzzi Unicem group sold 26.8Mt of cement (+4.4 per cent compared to 2016) and 12.3Mm 3 of ready-mix concrete (+3 per cent YoY). Cementos Moctezuma fined MXN3.346m by environmental regulator

Mexico’s environmental regulator PROFEPA has fined Cementos Moctezuma’s Tepetzingo plant MXN3.346m (US$179,795) over a breach in environmental regulations. In addition, the cement producer is required to shut down its second production line as a temporary measure. Cementos Moctezuma completes second line at Apazapan

Cementos Molins and Buzzi Unicem's Mexican joint venture, Cementos Moctezuma, announced that construction of the second production line at its Apazapan plant in Veracruz state has now been completed. The new line will fully enter operation on 15 December, when the mill is commissioned. The project, financed by the company through its own resources, represents an investment of US$23m. It will enable output at the works to rise by 20 per cent and increases capacity from 1.3Mta to 1.4Mta.

Fabrizio Donegá has been appointed as new CEO of Cementos Montezuma following the retirement of Pedro Carranza Andersen after 21 years of service with the company. The appointment was formally approved by the Board of the Cementos Molins subsidiary on 3 October 2016. Mr Donegá has extensive experience in the cement industry in key positions at Ciments du Maroc, Vassiliko Cement Works, Shymkentcement and Italcementi.

New order for Loesche cement mill in Mexico

Moctezuma to double Apazapan capacity

Cementos Moctezuma announced investments of US$200m to double capacity of its Apazapan works in Veracruz, Mexico. The Apazapan plant came on-stream at the end of 2010 with a capacity of 1.3Mta. The expansion programme will see Mexico’s fourth-largest producer increase capacity at the plant by the same amount. Moctezuma, owned by Buzzi Unicem and Cementos Molins, operates three plants in total with combined capacity of 6.3Mta capacity.
